Composite / white fillings are the most popular type of fillings because of their excellent natural appearance and strength. Their durability is now comparable to amalgam fillings.
A composite filling is a tooth-colored plastic and glass mixture used to restore decayed teeth. Composites are also used for cosmetic improvements of the smile.
A composite filling is selected to match the colour of your teeth as closely as possible. They are almost impossible to detect and are an excellent replacement for stained, chipped or leaking fillings.
Following preparation, Dr David Edwards or Dr Rand Razaq will place the composite in layers, typically using a light specialized to harden each layer. When the process is finished, our dentists will shape the tooth and create a colour identical to that of the actual tooth. A polishing process then takes place to prevent staining and early wear.
